Women with bigger br*asts DO have higher risk of breast cancer, finds genetic study Women with a large bust may be more likely to develop breast cancer, according to scientists. A study of 16,000 women found genetic mutations associated with breast size were also linked to the disease. Researchers say some of these are involved in regulating the female sex hormone oestrogen, which can trigger the growth of both breasts and tumours. While research has linked breast density – the amount of non-fat tissue – to an increased risk of cancer, there has been little evidence of a link with breast size before. Participants in the study, carried out by a US company, were asked to give their bra size on a 10-point scale from smaller than AAA to larger than DDD. The genetic code of the women – all of European origin – was read by scientists who looked through millions of tiny mutations in their DNA, called single-nucleotide polymorphisms. Out of seven that were strongly linked to breast size, three were also associated with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common form of the disease in Britain, with 50,000 new cases a year and one in eight women affected during their lifetime. Dr Nicholas Eriksson of the California-based genetics firm 23andMe said it was the first substantial link between breast size and cancer, but added much more research was needed before it could be considered concrete. He said: ‘Our results identify genetic variants that have an effect on both breast cancer and natural variation in breast size. ‘While the precise relationships between breast size, density, obesity and breast cancer remain difficult to untangle, understanding the biology?.?.?. may aid in the development of novel screening tools.’ He said one of the three mutations regulates the activity of the oestrogen receptor gene that plays a vital role in breast growth and in the majority of breast cancer cases. Another is located in a region of a woman’s genome that often shows abnormalities in those with certain types of breast cancer. The link was seen regardless of the women’s age, pregnancy and breastfeeding history and genetic ancestry, according to the study published in the journal BMC Medical Genetics. Little is known about the biology of breast size, which scientists believe is only half hereditary, but high oestrogen levels are known to be a risk factor for breast cancer. There are many different forms of breast cancer, which scientists believe could be treated as ten different illnesses. Weight, alcohol consumption and a strong family history are all risk factors. A 2006 study by the Harvard School of Public Health on 90,000 pre-menopausal subjects found larger breast size in slim young women gave them a higher risk of breast cancer in later life. Those with a body mass index of 25 or less and a bra size of D or larger had a significantly higher risk of breast cancer than those of the same weight with a cup size A or smaller, they found. However, the study’s lead author, Karin Michels, said the findings did not mean those with small breasts could assume they were safe and urged all women to go for breast cancer screening.

Tempers flared on Tuesday as some victims of Dana Air plane crash of June 3 in Iju-Isaga area of Lagos, rejected the N200,000 cheque offered each of them by the airline. Although not all the victims were present at the Ayobo relief camp, the majority who turned up rejected the cheques on the grounds that the amount was ridiculous. Officials of Dana had insisted that the money was not a compensation, but meant to ease the problem of accommodation of victims, whose apartments were destroyed. A victim, Daniel Omowunmi, whose duplex, warehouse and vehicle were destroyed at the crash site, directed his anger at the airline officials, saying “this is a crooked move. It is rubbish.” His own cheque was for the sum of N500, 000 because of the magnitude of his loss. Omowunmi, a pastor, said, “The way you are doing this is crooked and unacceptable. For your information, I was living in a duplex before and I cannot get a duplex for N500, 000 in Lagos. “So, what is the money you are offering me for? As I am talking to you, my aged mother is still in the hospital because of the incident. This is an insult to us.” A lawyer, Mr. Gbenga Odetola, who said he was representing about 20 of the victims, declined the offer on behalf of his clients. Odetola said the categorisation made, according to how the victims were affected, by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, was not enough to take care of the problem. He said, “We are questioning the parameters for the catergorisation. What of those victims whose properties were vandalised by street urchins and looters? The list of the victims is not exhaustive at all. “Apart from that, we wrote Dana a letter, they did not reply. Instead, they decided to call my clients to come for cheques.” But LASEMA General Manager, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, whose agency coordinated the programme, said the categorisation was done by his office according to international standards. He said it did not affect any legal step the victims might want to take. Oke-Osanyintolu said, “LASEMA came into the issue because our concern was not just about disaster management but also rehabilitation of victims. “This list is just the first step, focusing on the occupants of the building in the impact zone.” The list LASEMA compiled after its assessment contained names under the categorisation; severely affected, moderately affected and mildly affected. The airlines’ Head of Corporate Communication, Mr. Tony Usidame, said, “We are doing this to let the victims know that they are not alone at this critical time. “When the time of compensation comes, we will duly take care of them. But right now, we are doing this as a first step towards easing the accommodation problems the victims are facing. “We quite understand that many of them feel strongly about what we are giving them today. We understand and respect their choices.” However, when the officials wanted to leave the camp, a drama ensued when a victim, Adebayo Bidemi, whose lawyer, Odetola, had earlier rejected the cheque on her behalf, ran after them to get her cheque. Bidemi said the situation was not clearly explained to her before. “Please I need my cheque. They did not explain all the details about the money to me before. I got my accommodation through my own sweat. I think I have the right to change my mind,” she said. Some of the victims, who collected the cheques, Odika Daniel and Emeka Okafor, said they collected theirs because they were making arrangement for accommodation. Woman bites off neighbour's nose for allegedly having an affair with her husband

From PM News A housewife, Mrs. Ruka Amoha who claimed her husband has denied her sexual intercourse for some months decided to vent her anger on her neighbour, Mrs. Yemi Adelani Ruka alleged that her husband, Wasiu Amoha, starved her of sex because he was enjoying an amorous affair with her neighbor…she descended on Yemi and bit off her nose, during an argument at their apartment. “I cannot accept a situation where Yemi is enjoying her husband and mine at the same time thus denying me the opportunity to enjoy my husband”, said Ruka, a mother of three. The incident happened at 13, Adealu Street, Dopemu, Lagos. Doctors at the Lagos General Hospital, Orile Agege confirmed that Yemi’s nose was badly damaged and she needs plastic surgery to survive. The victim, Yemi, a mother of four kids, confirmed that Ruka accused her of sleeping with her husband. Yemi denied ever having any affair with Wasiu. They are all tenants in the same building... Yemi said that the difference between them is that she has been living peacefully with her husband unlike Ruka who was always fighting her husband and neighbours. Wasiu, the man at the centre of the storm confirmed to P.M.NEWS that he has been having constant quarrel with his wife, Ruka because of her behaviour. When P.M.NEWS asked him why he was not having sex with his wife, he said it was because of her constant quarrel with him and he had no peace of mind to even think about sex. On the day of the incident last week, Ruka reportedly ambushed Yemi and grabbed her nose and bit it off. She bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital where she was treated. But she is still expected to undergo plastic surgery on the nose. The police from Oke Odo Police Division later arrested Ruka, affter interrogation, she was charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting at Abule Egba for assault and inflicting injury on Yemi. The offence, the police said, is contrary to Section 244 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. She pleaded not guilty.

Ada (not her real name) is a childhood friend and she is in her mid twenties and shes happily married now with two kids,Ada i remember was a club freak,she never had a friday night that she would be the comfort of her bed unless maybe in the early hours probably in another man’s bed, she partied liked her heart needed it to pump blood,she was loose ,had so many male friends,changed boy friends like she changed clothes but yet she had a classy wedding. yeah! believe me . I also know of several other ladies in my neigborhood if you wondering where that is? just type SURULERE LAGOS in google map and you would have an idea of where am talikng about, back to my story this ladies are what we the presumed good guyz (yeah am a good guy) term has ‘bad’ ,but along the line they all keep getting married and living happily i may not know of the ever after but my big question is ‘WHY DO ‘BAD GIRLS’ FIND IT EASIER TO GET MARRIED?’ I might need the help of guys here, is it that guys find them more attractive? and prefer them to the praying lady who is in her late thirties hoping for Mr right to come calling,or is that the so called bad guls are deperate and they know how to reach out to get what they want? either way the rate is becoming alarming and i really do feel for the good lady that is hoping and waiting, keeping her self undefiled and yet no sign of light at the end of the tunnel…but really why?
