The Film Eye
THE FILM EYE~WHAT My FILM LECTURER WROTE .
When I wanted to start work as a lecturer, I went to my film lecturer Dr. Ben Williams to write a recommendation letter telling the school that I'm good enough to be employed as a film lecturer. In the letter, he wrote ' he has astute eye for photography ' as I read through the letter I asked myself - do photographers\film makers have eyes? What makes their eyes different? When I checked the meaning of the word 'astute' I just remembered one of our shoots under this man Dr Ben Williams, when he asked me to light a night scene and call him to come and shoot. When he came to set, he looked through the LCD and said 'Finest can't you see the light is spilling?' It took me some more seconds to see what he saw at a glance.Note: he looked through the LCD and not with mere glancing at the actors.
Back to the word 'astute'. If you want to be a film maker, don't see things the way others see it and don't analyze pictures with other people's eye. For those who didn't attend film school or offered photography as a course in school, I will suggest you read ' How a camera is like human eye and how a camera is not like human eye '. Good film making starts from WHAT DETAILS the film maker can see and as well as THE DETAILS the FILM MAKER can see THROUGH THE CAMERA.
If I were to be a priest I will just recite the popular 'prayer before bible reading ' open our eyes oh Lord that we may behold all TINY DETAILS HIDDEN IN THE FRAME...'
paraphrased by me. What ever helps you to see clearly should be encouraged. If you go back to the things around your street, you might be shocked to notice some details about that sign post, that building or even the TV set in your house. Film is a business of vision - HOW FAR CAN YOU SEE?

Are you a young changemaker? Do you have an idea that can change the world? Project Inspire is providing you a 5-minute platform to pitch your inspired idea to the world and win a US$25,000 grant. The UN Project Inspire: 5 Minutes to Change the World is a global social impact competition to help young changemakers create a better world for women and girls in Africa, Asia Pacific and Middle East.
Launched in 2011, to mark the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 25th anniversary of MasterCard Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, Project Inspire presents 18-35 year olds with a five-minute platform to pitch their inspired idea, for the chance to win a US$25,000 grant. It is a joint initiative from the Singapore Committee for UN Women and MasterCard.
Prizes
Each finalist receives an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, where they are paired with a mentor and participate in a week-long social business boot camp, that includes workshops run by Bain & Company and INSEAD. The week culminates in the Project Inspire grand final on Friday, 13th November, 2015, where a winner will be chosen by an esteemed panel of judges.
Grand Prize: Thanks to MasterCard, the grant prize winner will walk away with US$25,000.
Runner Up: Thanks to Hilton WorldWide, the runner-up winner will walk away with US$10,000.
People’s Choice: Top Problem Solvers will go home with funds given to them by their supporters. Now everybody is a winner!
This year, Project Inspire will choose twenty semi-finalists to progress to a crowd-funding stage of the competition. From the semi-finalists, finalists will be chosen to attend the Grand Finals in Singapore where they will pitch their inspired idea to a panel of judges. The remaining semi-finalists stand a chance of winning a wild-card ticket to pitch their inspired idea at the Grand Finals in Singapore by securing the most amount of supporters during the crowd-funding stage of the competition.
Eligibility and Requirements
This competition is open to both individuals (males and females) and groups from anywhere in the world.
Participants may submit entries as an individual or as a team of up to three members.
If submitting as an individual, you must be between the ages of 18-35. You will be considered as the team leader for the purpose of this competition.
If submitting as a team, at least one member of the team must be between the ages of 18-35. A team leader must be chosen and will be between the ages of 18-35.
The team leader will travel to Singapore to represent your project in the finals. The team leader must attend the entire duration of the finals.
Project
The project must be designed to empower disadvantaged women and girls through entrepreneurship and business literacy.

The beneficiaries of the project must be women or girls in Asia/Pacific, Middle East or Africa.
The proposed project must not propagate any political views or religious doctrines.
The project must be designed to be implemented with a budget of US$25,000.
The winner of this competition must commence the fieldwork for their project by 1 February 2016.

! MONEY AND MARRIAGE
.Ladies, Consider His Heart And Not His Pocket
This subject has so caused me sleepless nights in recent time that I was forced to carry out a research on it (the research is still ongoing though). I have discovered that one of the reasons marriages hit the rock today is because many entered marriage for the wrong purpose and with the wrong partners. I have asked several ladies if they can marry a man without considering his financial status. To my surprise (well, not a surprise anyway), just one-tenth of them said yes. Many quickly replied, "God forbid, I don trek enough. No car, no marriage".
But, come to think of it, ladies, don't you think that in the process of wanting a wealthy man, you might end up with the wrong person who will give you everything and then steal away your happiness? Of course, it's good for a man to be financially fit before embarking on marriage trip. But, what if God says it's not yet time to drive the limousines? What if the Almighty says he would only be 'pocket-full' when he approaches 40? Ladies, tell me, isn't it better to drink Garri at the genesis of the marriage and then swim in wealth later on? Come on ladies, marry a man because you LOVE him and not for his money.
Money may vanish anytime. In fact, do you know that some poor couple enjoys marriage, live happily than the rich ones? Your happiness is what matters. Ladies, have a change of mentality today.
Marry a man who is ambitious, hardworking and caring; they are usually the good husbands, not those ones who will treat you like a slave; not those ones who will tell you "I bought you with my money, so you are one of my properties". They are usually the ones who move from one hotel to another with girls all around because they feel you are not satisfying them enough and they have the money to get the pleasure they desire.
'Ladyhood', wake up from your slumber. Don't be deceived by friends or even parents. Seek the man who will make you happy.

President Jonathan presents medals at the NYSC Honours Awards

2015 Forbes Billionaires List - 5 Nigerians Make The Cut
Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico comes in again at No. 2 while revered American investor Warren Buffett took back the No. 3 spot from Spain’s Amancio Ortega (now No. 4); not even the largest IPO in history was enough to beat the Oracle of Omaha this year. Buffett was the list’s biggest gainer, up $14.5 billion to $72.7 billion, thanks to Berkshire Hathaway’s rising share price.
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg moves up 5 spots to number 16, his first time ranked among the world’s 20 richest. Ma and three other Chinese are among the biggest gainers and appear among the 50 richest on the list. Zuckerberg is also the leader in a youth revolution that has minted 46 billionaires under the age of 40.
The youngest billionaire on the planet is Evan Spiegel, 24, co-founder of photo- messaging app Snapchat. California, driven by Silicon Valley tech companies, has spawned 23 new billionaires, including cofounders of car-hailing service Uber cofounders Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, and their first employee Ryan Graves. Elizabeth Holmes, who runs blood-testing firm Theranos, debuts on the global list as the youngest self-made woman at age 31. The state now has 131 individuals with 10-figure net worths, more than any other country besides China and the U.S.
The year’s biggest loser in dollar terms is Aliko Dangote of Nigeria, whose fortune dropped to $14.7 billion from $25 billion last year, propelled downward by a weaker Nigerian currency and shrinking demand for cement, his largest asset. He still retains the title of Africa’s richest man. The country that was lost the most ground by far was Russia, which now has 88 billionaires down from 111, less than not just the U.S. and China but now also Germany and India.
One hundred thirty-eight people from the 2014 list dropped out of the ranks altogether including fashion designer Michael Kors, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Zulily’s Mark Vadon and many Russians. Guatemala has a billionaire for the first time, and Iceland returns to the ranks after a five-year absence, the result of a comeback by Thor Bjorgolfsson, who’s now the only billionaire in Iceland’s history.
Mike Adenuga, Folorunsho Alakija, Femi Otedola and Abdulsamad Rabiu also made the list..
