men are sick

A 33-year-old-man has been arrested for allegedly raping a terminally ill cancer patient in a Bloemfontein hospital, Free State police said on Friday.

Spokesperson Captain Harry Nagel said the man was arrested on Thursday night for the alleged rape of a 50-year-old cancer patient during a night shift at the National Hospital.

“The suspect, a male nurse, was arrested at his place of residence after he was positively identified during a photo identification that was done at the private hospital last night .”

Nagel said the woman could not identify the female accomplice who allegedly helped the man.

Held down

The sick woman’s husband told police the attack happened on October 15.

According to the woman, a woman nurse held her down while a male nurse raped her.

The two staff members were suspended when the news broke earlier this week.

Nagel said police were still waiting for forensic tests.

Police said the man would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Friday morning on a charge of rape.

The Health Professions Council of SA also indicated that it would be investigating the conduct of doctors who apparently ignored the woman’s complaints of the incident

franca need our Help...

why 4 God sack

Franca Ogbu, a 22-year-old student of Federal University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa State, used to be the cynosure of all eyes . In fact, several suitors have reportedly sought her hand in marriage, a request she often rejected politely, on the ground that she must at least, be in the university before thinking about marriage.

But when her desire of going to school was fulfilled last year, with it came an unfortunate incident that has currently crippled the life of the once beautiful girl. As you read this piece, the Benue State-born is lying critically ill at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, looking a shadow of her old self.

Franca, described as a promising child eventually had her dreams come through after she was offered admission into the Federal University of Technology, Yola, to study Economics. As she bade her parents goodbye, beaming with smiles and a mixed feeling of pains of missing her parents, she left with the little food stuffs her parents managed to get for her.

Franca... at the hospital bed
But her joy was short lived, six months into her education following an acid bath by a male student. Franca, according to the University authority, had on that fateful day, gone to class where she was reading, when all of a sudden, an incident that changed the entire course of her life happened.

Two students reportedly stormed the class. One of them was said to have walked up to the unsuspecting student who at the same time, raised up her head to see who the intruder was, only for the intruder to pour a liquid substance later discovered to be acid on her face.

Explaining, the Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Technology, Yola branch, Dr Usman Abubakar, alleged that one Chibuzor Bright was responsible. His action, he said, followed Franca’s objection to his several advances.

Speaking with Crime Guard, Dr Usman said, “Franca Ogbu Adima Paul, is a part I Economics student of Federal University of Technology, Yola (now Modibbo Adama University of Technology). Until the 5th of May, 2010, she was very normal. On that early morning, at about 1.15am, she was reading in the Mechanical Engineering Block of the Institution, in preparation for her examinations when suddenly, someone standing in front of her called her name and on raising her face up, she was spilled with concentrated acid. She is currently in the surgical ward of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. The acid affected her head, face, chest, hand and mouth.”

Chibuzor , a final year Civil Engineering student, was alleged to have sponsored the dastardly act by using one Nelson who poured the acid. Already, it was learnt that the School authority has dismissed him after which he was subsequently arrested .

Franca has been lying on

the hospital bed for over one year with her face disfigured, owing to her parent’s inability to get the required amount of money to carry out a plastic surgery on her. Her parents who are peasant farmers have lost hope of their first daughter returning to her normal self. Presently, their greatest worry is not just the fact that the incident has incapacitated their daughter but the painful fact that the alleged assailant is said to be walking the streets freely.

For Franca to get back on her feet and carry on with her education, she needs the sum of N12 million for the surgery. So far, the Bauchi zone of ASUU comprising eight Universities in the North-Eastern Nigeria, as gathered, launched a campaign to raise the needed money to save Franca, with an account opened at the Fidelity Bank UNIMAID Branch. The account number is 6051446636 and the project account name is FRANCA TREATMENT.

The national body of ASUU which condemned the act in its entirety had, during one of its meetings in Ibadan , Oyo state, described the act as ‘a brutal act typically, man’s inhumanity to a fellow human being’”, calling on all well -meaning and sympathetic Nigerians, philanthropists and Civil Society Organizations, to contribute generously towards getting Franca back on her feet.

The hospital, as reliably gathered, had carried about 11 surgical operations on Franca for free. But she reportedly has 13 more operations to go, a financial burden too heavy for the parents to bear.

They therefore called on well meaning Nigerians to come to their rescue............

SAmsom Siasia sacked

Samson SIASIA sacked...

much foot-dragging, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF yesterday dispensed with the services of Super Eagles Chief Coach, Samson Siasia despite his plea for more time to put together a ‘strong’ team for the future.

However, contrary to speculations that the football house was set to announce former captain of the Eagles, Stephen Keshi as Siasia’s replacement, it was gathered that it ordered its technical committee to sit next week and decide who should take over albeit on a temporary basis.

The Executive Committee which met yesterday only rubber-stamped the recommendation of its Technical Committee headed by Barrister Chris Green which hurriedly met to decide Siasia’s fate after he failed to fulfill part of his contract which was to qualify the Eagles for the 2012 Africa Nations Cup scheduled for Equatorial Guinea/Gabon next January.

Siasia after the match in Abuja
The Aminu Maigari-led NFF has been under tremendous pressure, even though he (Maigari) denied such, to sack the Bayelsa-born gaffer as Nigerians were divided on the issue, with many saying that some other coaches who even qualified for the Nations Cup and got to the semi final were given the boot.

One such Nigerian, himself a former coach of Nigeria’s U-17 team and Super Falcons, Godwin Izilein, queried the call for Siasia’s pardon when he couldn’t meet his own side of the contract terms.

“Why are people calling for Siasia to be given a second chance. There is a precedence, coaches before him were fired even when they qualified the team for the Nations Cup and got to the semi final. Is Siasia a special Nigerian, why should his case be different. My concern is that there is a contract and it should be followed to the letter,” he argued.

Siasia, who was a popular choice of Nigerian fans after Swede handler, Lars Lagerback couldn’t lead the Eagles beyond the first round at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, spent only 11 months at the helm and fell out of favour after his wards were held to a 2-2 draw by Syli National of Guinea, a result that knocked Nigeria out of the Nations Cup, the first time in 26 years.

Devastating! Gay Teenager Takes His Own Life In Ottawa

SAD! Gay Teenager Takes His Own Life In Ottawa

Devastating! Gay Teenager Takes His Own Life In Ottawa

So sad.
We are heartbroken to report that 15-year-old Jamie Hubley took his own life after being a long-time victim of anti-gay bullying.
Jamie kept his struggles as a gay teenager well documented on his blog. Here are some of his crushing words:
"I wish I could be happy, I try, I try, I try … I just want to feel special to someone."
"I hate being the only open gay guy in my school … It f—ing sucks, I really want to end it."
And here's what Jamie wrote on his final blog post:
"I'm tired of life really. Its so hard, Im sorry, I cant take it anymore."
"Its just too hard. I dont want to wait 3 more years, this hurts too much. How do you even know It will get better? Its not."
"Remember me as a Unicorn."
Here's what a fellow student wrote about Jamie, remembering his spirit:
"You fought a hard battle, doing things most kids wouldn’t ever have the guts to do. You were brave, and strong and I admire you so much for everything you’ve done. You went through stuff that no kid should ever have to face in their lifetime, but somehow through all the hardships you still shone at school…You left a big footprint in everyone’s heart, and you will always be remembered."
Our thought and prayers go out to Jamie's family, friends, and loved ones during this unbelievably difficult time.
Let this be a wake-up call to the world that anti-gay bullying isn't only a problem in America! We MUST do more to fight against this NOW!
It shouldn't take this many gay teens committing suicide to show us that something more needs to be done. A law must be enacted against this kind of behavior in the U.S., Canada, and abroad!
Rest in peace, Jamie.

Charlie's Angels' Canceled by ABC

Charlie's Angels' Canceled by ABC

So much for the return of "Charlie's Angels."

ABC has canceled the revamp of the 1970s TV show after just four episodes, the network confirms to TheWrap.

The series, which starred Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh and Rachael Taylor as three young female detectives in Miami, had floundered in the ratings, though it posted an 8 percent increase in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic for its most recent episode Thursday. Its Sept. 22 premiere posted a lukewarm 2.1/6 in the demo and generally went downhill from there, plunging 20 percent for its Oct. 7 episode to a 1.2/4.

ABC plans to continue running the remaining episodes on Thursdays at 8.

"Charlie's Angels" joins NBC's "The Playboy Club" and "Free Agents" on the list of new offerings to be pulled so far this season. Not officially canceled yet but not looking promising: CBS' Kevin Dillon comedy "How to Be a Gentleman," which has halted production and been moved to Saturday nights; and the CW reality offering "Hater," which has been removed from the network's schedule, with the possibility that it may air sometime in the future, likely in the summer.
