Charlie's Angels' Canceled by ABC
So much for the return of "Charlie's Angels."
ABC has canceled the revamp of the 1970s TV show after just four episodes, the network confirms to TheWrap.
The series, which starred Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh and Rachael Taylor as three young female detectives in Miami, had floundered in the ratings, though it posted an 8 percent increase in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic for its most recent episode Thursday. Its Sept. 22 premiere posted a lukewarm 2.1/6 in the demo and generally went downhill from there, plunging 20 percent for its Oct. 7 episode to a 1.2/4.
ABC plans to continue running the remaining episodes on Thursdays at 8.
"Charlie's Angels" joins NBC's "The Playboy Club" and "Free Agents" on the list of new offerings to be pulled so far this season. Not officially canceled yet but not looking promising: CBS' Kevin Dillon comedy "How to Be a Gentleman," which has halted production and been moved to Saturday nights; and the CW reality offering "Hater," which has been removed from the network's schedule, with the possibility that it may air sometime in the future, likely in the summer.
