How I survived cancer – Okonjo-Iweala

A rare insight into the past physical challenge of the coordinating minister of the economy and minister of finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala emerged yesterday when she disclosed that she survived cancer 15 years ago affirming the scare is not the end of life.

She spoke at the service of songs for the late Oronto Douglas, special adviser to the president on research and documentation that held in Abuja last night.

The service was attended by a cross section of the society from civil society, government, the media, the clergy among others.

In her remarks at the occasion, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala said: “Oronto and I had two similarities in life, we both had cancer. I had my last surgery, 15 years ago and I shared my experience with him,” she said, narrating how she repeatedly sought to encourage him using her triumph over the disease.

Tributes from several speakers centered on how Oronto built bridges across political divides. Dr. Fayemi, Hon Uche Onyeogocha leading members of the All Progressives Congress, APC spoke in that direction and they were buttressed by Pastor Bakare.

Tributes also came from former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa State, Dr. Sam Amadi, chairman National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Rev. Nnimmo Bassey, Yinka Odumakin, Ken Saro Wiwa among others.

SCRAPPING AMNESTY PROGRAMME WOULD LEAD TO CRISIS IN NIGER DELTA

President Goodluck Jonathan has advised that the administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari should not consider scrapping the Presidential Amnesty programme for ex-militants in the Niger Delta region.
The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, gave the warning while speaking with journalists shortly after a meeting to review activities of the programme in Abuja.

“The presidential amnesty has transformed and still transforming lives. This is the reason why we are meeting today, reviewing the programme vis-a-vis that fact that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan our brother, the president of this country would be going back home after successfully running a four year term, having lost in the last presidential election.

“He would be going back home. So, apprehensions are everywhere, worries are everywhere, what will happen to the presidential amnesty programme. The leaders are asking questions, the followers are asking questions.”

“So I keep interfacing. I keep talking; we keep putting our heads together. Today again, we put our heads together and I have assured them on behalf of Mr. President and even on behalf of the incoming government of which I am not going to be a part of. But I know the government will be decent. I know what decent government do all over the world.”

President Jonathan, Sambo & Others To Get N3.24bn Severance Pay

Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-president Namadi Sambo, non-returning federal lawmakers, ministers and presidential aides will collect N3.24bn as severance allowances.

The severance allowances are contained in the Remuneration Package put together by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

According to the package, Jonathan, who will hand over to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29, is entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary.

The President’s annual basic salary is put at N3, 514,705 and therefore his severance allowance will be N10, 544,115 after May 29.

The severance allowance is without prejudice to his other constitutional entitlements as a former head of government.

Similarly, Vice-President Sambo, who leaves office the same day as Jonathan, is also entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary put at N3, 031,572.50. This means that his severance allowance after May 29 is N9, 094,717.50.

For having held the office of vice- president, Sambo also has some constitutional entitlements and perks.

About 76 senators are not returning to the National Assembly either because they did not stand for election or because they lost their bids to return. They are however entitled to N462,019,200 at the expiration of their tenure on June 5.

Like Jonathan and Sambo, they are entitled to 300 per cent of their annual basic salaries as severance allowances. This amounts to N6, 079,200 per senator.

In the House of Representatives, about 290 members are not returning to the 8th National Assembly to be proclaimed into existence by Buhari on June 5.

Each of the members is entitled to N5, 955,637.50 as severance allowance. This means that the 290 members will be paid N1, 727,134,875.

The ministers, on the other hand, will be collecting a total of N253, 967,212.5. There are 42 ministers in Jonathan’s cabinet. Thirty one of them are senior ministers and 11 are ministers of state.

Each of the senior ministers is entitled to N6, 079,200 severance allowance while each of the ministers of state will receive N5, 872,740.

This means that collectively, the senior ministers will get N188, 455,200 at the expiration of their tenure on May 29 while collectively, the ministers of state will be collecting N65, 512,012.5 .

The aides to the President comprising special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants will get N775, 207,125.

There are 23 of them who work with the president as special advisers. Apart from this number, however, there are several others estimated at 110 who work with the vice-president, the First Lady(Patience Jonathan) and special advisers that are designated either as senior special assistants or special assistants to the President.

This means that there are about 133 aides to the president and each of them is entitled to 300 per cent of their annual basic salary which amounts to N5, 828,625.

The Nigerian democracy has been identified as one of the costliest in the world as a result of a large number of political office holders.

Some experts, for instance, think that a cabinet made up of 42 ministers is too large. However, constitutionally, each of the 36 states is expected to be represented in the Federal Executive Council.

Bicameralism is another source of worry for many observers who believe that Nigeria can do with one chamber of the National Assembly. Some Nigerians have called for part-time legislature as a means of saving cost.

However, the worry of many Nigerians is not what the lawmakers earn monthly but what accrues to them through self-appropriation and constituency projects.

Two activist lawyers – Jiti Ogunye and Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa – faulted the basis for earmarking such an amount of money for such purposes in the face of the economic challenges the country is grappling with.

While Adegboruwa argued that the political office holders were not entitled to any severance allowance given what they earned as salaries and benefits while in office, Ogunye called for a drastic cut in the allowances.

Adegboruwa said that since the political office holders had been paid what could sustain them and their families for the rest of their lives, they were no longer entitled to severance allowance.

He said, “I believe that given the monumental and outrageous salaries, benefits and allowances that are being paid to the outgoing members of this executive, the legislators especially the House of Representatives, senators and ministers, I believe they should save Nigerians from the luxury of any outrageous allowance.

“This incoming government needs a lot of resources to fulfil its campaign promises. Our incoming government is likely to remain stagnant for now. Nigeria cannot afford the luxury in the name of severance allowance. Our people are suffering. They should have mercy on Nigeria. What they have taken is enough to sustain them and their families for the rest of their lives.”

Ogunye said, “While the RMAFAC could have its own scale, guidelines and parameters for determining those political office holders who qualify for these severance benefits and the quantum each of them and all of them should recieve, we cannot but point out that this amount, in the circumstances of our dire economic situation, is outrageous.

“It is carrying the culture of profligacy and corruption in the conduct of our public affairs too far. At this point of economic recession and dwindling oil revenue, RMFAC ought to be chiefly concerned with revenue mobilisation to cater for the shortfall in the funding of the yet to be passed 2015 Appropriation bill.

“We suggest a drastic cut in the amount. Political office holders do not necessarily serve Nigeria more and better than school teachers, lecturers, judges, health workers et cetra, who take home modest gratituities and pensions after 35 years of service.”

The Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said, “It is unjust and morally reprehensible for these officials who mostly have fleeced the public till with veracious rapacity to legislate crazy retirement benefits.

“It is nothing but robbing the public for people who lived off the state for four or eight years to want to become permanent liability on the system.

“This is a country where civil servants who served the country for 35 years are queuing to death for pensions that mostly remain unpaid. There are no serious countries in the world where public officials earn what ours take not to talk of the sickening retirement benefits they ask for.”

African man 45yr threathens to go on hunger strike if his 88-yr old wife isn't released to him

An African toyboy husband got a shock when he took his 88-year-old British wife to a care home for respite - and social workers refused to hand her back.
Ousman Jatta, 45, married Beryl in the Gambia 13 years ago and moved to the UK with her when she became ill in 2006.The devoted hubby dropped her off at a care home in February for respite while he took a well-deserved three-week break to his native Africa.

But when he went to pick her up he was told social services had intervened and ruled his dementia-suffering wife couldn't return home with him.

Devastated Ousman has threatened to go on a hunger strike if Bristol City Council don't hand back his wife who he says has pleaded to return home

The supermarket security worker said:

"They have used their power against me to keep my wife in a nursing home against her and my wishes.I care for her better than anyone and I feel very sad.Every time I go to the Gambia I contact social services for respite, but they never told me they were going to keep my wife.To me Beryl is not old, she is a human being and no matter if she is old or young she is my wife.I would never neglect Beryl.I love Beryl.I'm feeling bad to see her in a nursing home whilst I am ready to look after my own wife.
"As soon as I came to this country I'm looking after her and nothing has happened to her.
"I don't say that the nursing home is bad but to me the belief I have is that you take a person to a home if that person has no-one to look after her but as far as Beryl is concerned, I am ready to look after her until God finalises."

Retired shop worker Beryl moved to the Gambia more than 17 years ago and met Ousman when he helped translate for her in a local shop.
The pair became firm friends and dated for four years before they got married in 2002.
But they were forced to come back to the UK when she fell ill and doctors advised the mum-of-two would get better treatment at her home in Bristol.

It was a weekend so I called social services on Monday morning and the only thing they told me was they thought I was tired and this and that and that I had left her.I have said in the past that I am tired and that some time in the future I might need to leave her, but I have never abandoned Beryl.I have access to her when I go to the nursing home to see Beryl but as far as I'm concerned it's not the best place for her to be.I promised to myself and to God I shall never let her down.Beryl is my first priority.I am used to Beryl - we are used to each other. When I finish work at 10 o'clock she will not go to bed and tells her carers she is waiting for her husband."

South Africa Says It Will Start Giving HIV Victims ‘Mark’ Near Their Genitals

President Zuma signed a bill that seems to be one of the greatest steps in the history of trying to combat HIV.

From now on, every person who gets tested and is found to be HIV positive will not just get counselling and medication. They will also get a mark in form of a tattoo near their genitals according to the bill signed by the president.

Jacob Zuma after signing the bill said;

The mark is to protect those who can’t say no to sex. I mean if you can’t read between the lines you should read between the legs because that’s where the status would be tatted. The choice to be HIV positive is now in your hands or your genitals for that matter…. We also encourage those who had been living with the virus to go to the nearest public hospitals to get their status tatted in.

Why I didn't have plastic surgery to lose weight-Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian is known for her strict workout toutine..However, it wasn't  alwayslike this as she was once called "The fat Kardashian"..In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she says her issues with Lamar made her seek refuge in the gym.

'I have never felt 'fat', I just didn't realise how unhealthy I was until I look back at pictures,' 'In the moment I felt so beautiful and I remember walking down red carpets with my make-up done in a little sparkly dress and I thought I was so cute. I had all this confidence.'Now on my Instagrampage people comment saying "I liked you better when you were bigger" and I think, "Thank God I don't live my life for other people because I'd be in a constant tug of war."'

She says her issues with Lamar made her love working out ..

'When me and Lamar were having issues, I decided to channel my energy into working out... if I went out with my girlfriends I would be hounded by paparazzi and made to feel more humiliated. The gym was my only refuge. I could put music on and dance around with my girlfriends and be silly.

On plastic surgery

I'm not against plastic surgery – if you want to do a tweak, I'm all for it, but you have to love yourself first because no surgery is going to change your heart.

'It would have been such an easy solution to get liposuction or whatever, but you have to be healthy to maintain that. I've always felt like "Wouldn't it be great to accomplish that on your own?"'

List Of 10 Most Challenges Buhari Says Are Waiting For Him

Thcable alleged that President-elect Muhammadu Buhari said there are at least 10 challenges ahead of his in-coming administration and has sought the support of the new legislators in checking off the list if tackled.

He was speaking on Wednesday at the induction of new members of the national assembly organized by the National Institute for Legislative Studies in Abuja.
The challenges he listed are;

*General insecurity and insurgency “that has caused extreme human hardship and destruction of lives, livelihoods” in the north-east and north-west

*Environmental degradation in the Niger Delta

*Decline in revenues due to fall in oil prices

*Endemic corruption “which has crippled human and infrastructure development for decades”

*Poor provision of power supply “which has had a crippling effect on development of small businesses”

*Deindustrialization for the past three decades leading to closure of many industries and migration of many to other African countries

*High levels of unemployment and especially youth unemployment which Buhari put at 40%

*High cost of governance “that has been crowding out capital and human development”

*Erosion of public social services such as infrastructure, health and education.

*Lack of development in the agricultural and solid mineral sectors.

He said he hoped to work closely with legislators to tackle the challenges, noting that the legislature is a critical component and necessary ingredient of democracy and good governance.

Buhari told the lawmakers;

“The legislature by nature is inherently democratic in the sense that all members are equal and are elected representatives of the Nigerian people. As President-elect, I recognize this fact and believe that legislators carry this heavy burden of representation with all the seriousness it deserves.
“For a president to be successful in addressing community development and general welfare of the various people of the country, he or she would benefit from working closely and in harmony with the legislative arm of government. “I therefore commit myself to working with the legislature as development partners motivated by the desire to deliver good governance.”
He commended Nigerians for their role during the general election, and commended President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting the results of the election “before final announcement was made”.

Food Not To Give Your Babies

Salt
Babies shouldn’t eat much salt as it isn’t good for their kidneys. Don’t add salt to your baby’s food and don’t use stock cubes or gravy as they’re often high in salt. Remember this when you’re cooking for the family if you plan to give the same food to your baby.

Sugar
Your baby doesn’t need sugar. By avoiding sugary snacks and drinks, you’ll help to prevent tooth decay. Use mashed banana, breast milk or formula milk to sweeten food if necessary.

Honey
Occasionally, honey contains bacteria which can produce toxins in a baby’s intestines, leading to infant botulism, which is a very serious illness. It’s best not to give your child honey until they’re one year old. Honey is a sugar, so avoiding it will also help to prevent tooth decay.

Whole nuts, including peanuts, shouldn’t be given to children under five as they can choke on them. As long as there’s no history of food allergies or other allergies in your family you can give your baby peanuts once they’re six months old as long as they’re crushed or ground into peanut butter.

“Low-fat” foods
Fat is an important source of calories and some vitamins for babies and young children. It’s better for babies and young children under two to have full-fat milk, yoghurt and cheese rather than low-fat varieties.

Saturated fat
Don’t give your child too many foods that are high in saturated or ‘bad’ fat, such as crisps, chips, cheap burgers and cakes.

Shark, swordfish and marlin
Don’t give your baby shark, swordfish or marlin. The amount of mercury in these fish can affect a baby’s growing nervous system.

Raw shellfish
Raw shellfish can increase the risk of food poisoning so it’s best not to give it to babies.

Raw and undercooked eggs
Eggs can be given to babies over six months old, but make sure they’re cooked until both the white and yolk are solid.

International Criminal Court To Probe Zuma, Zulu King Over Xenophobia

Following a petition from the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has decided to probe the xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African citizens in South Africa.

SERAP had in a petition dated 23 April 2015 and sent to the Court requested the Prosecutor Mrs. Fatou Bensouda to use her “good offices and position to investigate allegations of hate speech by the Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, which has resulted in killing, violence and discrimination against Nigerians and other African citizens living in South Africa, as well as the complicity/negligence of the country’s law enforcement agencies to prevent these crimes against civilian population.”

In response, the ICC in a letter dated 28 April 2015, and signed by M.P. Dillon, Head of Information & Evidence Unit of the Office of the Prosecutor said, “The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court acknowledges receipt of your documents. This communication has been duly entered in the Communications Register of the Office. We will give consideration to this communication, as appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. As soon as a decision is reached, we will inform you, in writing, and provide you with reasons for this decision.”

SERAP in its petition had urged Mrs Bensouda to “bring to justice anyone who is responsible for these international crimes prohibited under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.”

SERAP also said that it “considers the use of speech by the Zulu King to promote hatred and/or incite violence against non-nationals such as Nigerians, particularly in the media as a clear violation of the provisions of the Rome Statute of International Criminal Court.

“Grave statements by political leaders/prominent people that express discrimination.

Nigeria Army Says It Has Rescued 200 girls, 93 Women From Sambisa Forest

DAKAR (Reuters) - Nigeria's army has rescued 200 girls and 93 women during a military operation to wrest back the Sambisa Forest from the Boko Haram Islamist militant group, it said on its Twitter feed on Tuesday.

"Troops this afternoon rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa Forest. We cannot confirm if the Chibok girls are in this group," it said, adding that Nigerian troops had also destroyed three camps run by the militants.

Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls near the northern village of Chibok in April 2014, sparking international outcry.

PDP SAYS AIT BAN IS DANGEROUS FOR DEMOCRACY

Press statement released by the PDP on AIT ban.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as unacceptable the Monday’sdirective by the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to bar a television house, the AIT, from covering his activities, saying the suppression of the media under any guise portends danger for the nation’s democracy.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday said that after carefully studying the defence posited by General Buhari’s campaign spokesperson as well as the smokescreen statement by the APC to cover and mitigate his anti-media posture, the PDP and indeed all lovers of democracy are persuaded that the action was not only unjustifiable, but also unconstitutional and completely against the spirit of liberty and the rule of law in a democracy.

He said “the PDP as a party that have nurtured the nation’s democracy in the past 16 years cannot afford to fold its hands and watch the constitutional rights, media freedom and personal liberty of Nigerians, the basic tenets of democracy being demolished.

“We ask, is this a beginning of the feared erosion of the freedom and personal liberty the media and Nigerian citizens have been enjoying in the last 16 years under the PDP led-administration? Has our dear nation finally fallen into the clutches of totalitarianism and impunity where government actions will based on egocentric decisions and impulses of individuals rather than the rule of law?
“While we assure the President-elect of our resolve to run a mature and responsible opposition based on issues, we are disturbed by this emerging development and reassure the Nigerian people that we will continue to stand with them on issues of democracy and freedom at all times.

“Perhaps, we need to remind General Buhari that part of the challenge of his new position, even as President-elect is that he has lost his private life which is now subject to public scrutiny and media interrogation, as required of the custodian of the mandate of the Nigerian people.
“The PDP is not oblivious of the background of the President-elect especially as it relates to the freedom of the media, but we had thought that having declared to be a converted democrat, he would make himself amenable to the basic principles of democracy by following the due process of the law on any circumstance.

“General Buhari may also wish to be reminded that the Nigerian constitution upon which provisions he emerged President-elect, also gave the media powers to cover activities of public office holders while at the same time providing legal avenues for redress in the event of any violation. If the right of the President-elect was in anyway violated by the AIT or any media house for that matter, he is expected to act within the law and seek redress in the courts otherwise one would have no option than to conclude that he is out for personal vendetta.

“The APC and the President-elect may have one or two lessons to pick from President Goodluck Jonathan, who though the most maligned and abused President in the history of our nation, even by the APC, allowed his actions to be sufficiently guided by humility, tolerance and the rule of law”, the PDP said.

The party called on Nigerians not to despair but remain steadfast and unite in resisting any anti-democratic tendencies intended to instill fear in them and set the stage for a dictatorial order and the erosion of their personal freedom and liberty as citizens, which they have been enjoying in the last 16 years under the PDP.

Man, 35, Rides Bicycle From Kaduna To Lagos

A 35-year-old Kaduna-born cyclist and supporter of the president-elect, Mohammed Kabiru Jafaru, yesterday embarked on a journey to meet with the vice president-elect in Lagos State.

Mohammed, a resident of Hayin Malam Bello in Rigasa district of Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, took off on his journey to Lagos at exactly 6: 35am at the palace of Sarkin Hayin Malam Bello, Alhaji Kabiru Isa Gangarida.

Speaking to newsmen before embarking on the journey, Mohammed said, “I have decided to embark on this journey to Lagos because I want to go and thank Yoruba people for their immense support and contributions that led to the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari during the March 28 presidential election.”

“The decision to undertake the journey came to my mind after analysing the votes cast for Buhari by the Yoruba people and after I discussed my intention with my immediate family and friends, they encouraged me to go on the journey.”

Mohammed, a father of four who lives at Goro road in Hayin Malam Bello, further said, “I have never been to Lagos before; this is my first time and only God knows how many days I will spend before reaching Lagos”.

Asked whether he has any fear about the journey, Mohammed said, “I don’t have any fear because I believe in God that nothing will happen to me on the road; all I want is people’s prayers so that I will reach Lagos safely.”

Also speaking, an APC chieftain in the state, Hon. Kailani Mohammed, said Mohammed Kabiru will be received by the vice president-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and other prominent members of the APC in Lagos on his arrival, and wished Mohammed a safe trip.

NNPC DEDUCTED $18.53BN OIL REVENUE, AUDIT REPORT CONFIRMS SANUSI'S ALLEGATION

A forensic audit of Nigeria’s state oil firm released on Monday confirmed the accusation by Emir Muhammed Sanusi that the NNPC withheld about $20 billion that it ought to have remitted to the national treasury.

The report ordered released by President Goodluck Jonathan, more than two months after it was submitted by PriceWaterHouseCoopers confirmed that the NNPC illegally expended $18.53 billion on operational costs, kerosene and petrol subsidies, without authorisation from the National Assembly. Part of the money was also withheld by an NNPC subsidiary, without National Assembly authorisation.

Although the audit found that the firm overpaid the state by almost $750 million, within the 19 months probed, it recommended a refund of $1.5 billion to government coffers. The audit covered January 2012 to July 2013.

Outgoing Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan released the audit days after his elected replacement, Muhammadu Buhari, pledged to probe the allegation all over again and crack down on corruption in the energy company once in office.

The probe of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC) books was instituted last year after former central bank governor Lamido Sanusi said the firm had withheld $20 billion in oil revenue from government coffers, jeopardising the country’s finances.

Sanusi had told a Senate committee in 2014 that NNPC had received $67 billion and handed over only $47 billion.

After the allegations, Jonathan publicly dismissed the claim and replaced Sanusi, saying the banker had mismanaged the central bank’s budget. Sanusi has since become Emir of Kano, the country’s second-highest Islamic authority.

The PwC audit, however, said NNPC and its upstream subsidiary, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, should hand over $1.48 billion arising from unsubstantiated costs, duplicated subsidy claims and computation errors.

The report also recommended an overhaul of how NNPC is run.

“The NNPC model of operation must be urgently reviewed and restructured, as the current model which has been in operation since the creation of the corporation cannot be sustained,” it said in the 200-page document.

An earlier one-page version of the report, which had been due out in September, was released in February.

The affair has caused consternation in a nation long accustomed to reports of grand graft in Africa’s largest oil producer.

Analysts say Buhari, 72, managed to oust Jonathan in elections last month because voters believed he would tackle graft in Africa’s largest economy.

BODE GEORGE SAYS TINUBU HAS BEGGED FOR HIS FORGIVENESS

The Peoples Democratic Party leader in Lagos state, Chief Bode Goerge, in an interview with Eniola Akinkuotu of Punch Newspaper, talked about the status of his relationship with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu. Read below;

I am from this state and I have been involved in politics since 1998. Bola Tinubu and I have settled our quarrel but facts are facts. Friendship is different. If I still see him, I will tell him to his face. His acquisitive tendencies know no bounds. He decided to bring (Akin) Ambode to manipulate the system and throw a lot of funds around. Where is the growth in Lagos?

When asked if Bola Tinubu can stop Buhari from doing well, he said;

Are they not in the same party? Who calls himself the national leader of the party? If Tinubu says let’s go South and Buhari says lets go East, what happens? You cannot have two captains on a ship. I told you the APC has no taproot but it is just an experimental party. I know Buhari will not want to contaminate himself but what of those who have fast hands in the tillers? We are waiting for him to announce his cabinet. Four years is a short time in the life of a nation. He is almost 73 and he should fear nothing. All he needs to do is to leave a good name behind.

About him going on exile if Tinubu finds his way into national government, he said;

There is nothing he can do to me. I am not afraid of him and he knows that but I am now 70 and most of my children are abroad. My little girl is also abroad. I will spend more time there doing my memoirs because if I am here, I will be dealing with too many things. The book will include my 16 years of politics in Lagos and my youthful experiences.

He condemned Buruji Kashamu for describing Tinubu as a role model for Yoruba and the architect of modern Nigeria.

One little boy who just delved into politics said I am a mole of Bola Tinubu. He must have woken on the wrong side of his bed. Bola and I are not enemies; we are in two different parties with different ideologies.

His concept of operation is at variance with mine. We are not enemies; we did not grow up together. I even went to his village in Iragbiji to campaign for our party in Osun State. I met his Oba there and they even showed me his primary school. One of his friends with whom he lived in Ibadan was my classmate at the University of Lagos. Initially, he thought I hated him so much and convolutedly conspired to use a judge to put me in prison. Whatever you sow, you will reap.

He said Tinubu was part of the conspiracy that sent him to jail....

The Supreme Court said the judgment was a conjecture which means it never existed. They did not know they were helping me to go and rediscover myself. Of course it was painful. We later met at the Adamasingba Stadium Ibadan, at the burial of my good friend, Alao Arisekola.

The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, who is a younger brother of mine, sprang up and said, ‘Why are you and Tinubu not greeting each other?’ and I said Bola is on a different planet from mine. Oba Otudeko was also there and he said, ‘today at the burial of our mutual friend, Arisekola, we should end our hostility’ and I told them that he was involved in the conspiracy to lock me up.

They called Bola, he shook my hand and said he was sorry. It was in public. Since then, if we meet in public, we greet each other but our concepts of politics are different. For me, there is no enmity, just differences in political approaches. For me, democracy is about the people, service and the majority of the people choosing who will lead them. His own concept is imperial. He decides who should go to sleep and who gets what. Now, there is Gen. Buhari. If I remember the kind of person he is and the Bourdillon dictator, I wish them the best of luck.

MUMMY's LOVE

This is the definition of strength, love, and pure raw beauty. Mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer halfway through pregnancy with her surprise gender baby. She had one breast removed and underwent chemo while carrying her miracle baby. She was induced at 36 weeks in order to receive more treatment. Baby BOY was born ready to prove to the world his strength he inherited from his strong mommy.

He latched on to her remaining breast all on his own and the room erupted in so many emotions. Breastfeeding is such a sacred bond, and this one just makes my heart break and swell at the same time. I am beyond blessed to have met and gotten to know this woman and her family, and so honored she asked me to be there to document these precious moments. Please share, and continue to pray for this family as they go into their next journey together!"

SEYI SHAY FUMBLES WITH NATIONAL ANTHEM

Seyi Shay was invited to perform at the event in Lagos and when the event kicked off, they thought that the best person to sing the national anthem was Seyi Shay, the singer in the house.
Oh yes, she started very well, the first stanza of the national anthem was so smooth and silky in her mouth as she rendered the anthem effortlessly.
She would have earned a high score for her efforts, but dear Seyi lost it at the second stanza of the anthem. She fumbled and jumbled the lines, repeating the lines of the first stanza for the second.
But she was able to catch up almost immediately and she continued as if no harm was done.
The MC at the event, thereafter, tried to water down the goof by joking that only a few would be able to recite the second stanza of the anthem.

Crest fallen Seyi Shay wasn't happy as Saturday Beats saw her being escorted by another female outside the event venue. It was written all over her face that she was totally embarrassed and may have wished she practiced more before climbing the stage.
