APC SAYS THEY ARE YET TO CONCLUDE ZONING RECOMMENDATIONS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) said the zoning arrangement being worked out by the party is not conclusive and might be subject to change.

This is against the backdrop that the arrangement has been concluded.

One of the party officials who spoke to our reporter on telephone yesterday said the zoning arrangement might be subject to change if there is any need for it.

He said the National Chairman of the party has met with President-elect Muhammadu Buhari and the proposal was presented to him for scrutiny and advice.

However when contacted, another National officer of the party who also spoke on condition of anonymity neither deny nor confirm the authenticity of the report on the zoning of positions and declined to speak further on the issue.

The party's National Working Committee (NWC) had met twice last week to discuss the zoning and ministerial appointments by the incoming government.

However reports have emerged yesterday about the possible zoning arrangement forwarded to the president-elect by the party.

The reports showed that the North West where the President comes from got the Deputy Senate President and the Senate Chief Whip.

It also indicated that the South West, where the Vice President comes from was allotted the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Senate Leader positions.

According to the reports, the North Central will get the Senate President, Deputy House Leader and the House of Representatives Chief Whip.

The North East region was given the positions of the Deputy Senate President, House Leader, Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman and the National Chairman.

South South was allotted the positions of Deputy Speaker, Deputy Senate Chief Whip and the National Chairman of the party.

The South East the report said will get the position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Deputy House Chief Whip and Secretary, Board of Trustees (BOT).
