Nigeria’s Nina Uziogwe Accepted Into 7 Ivy League Schools

According to News12, the latest high school senior to make the news for being wanted by several elite schools is Nina Uziogwe.

Uziogwe is a senior at Stuyvesant High School and plans to study medicine. She has been accepted to Harvard, Dartmouth, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Princeton and Yale.

Uziogwe’s family originates from Nigeria, and her mother says she always stressed academic performance. Uziogwe, however, is the first in her large extended family to be accepted to more than one Ivy League university.

She told News12 that she took a number of advanced placement classes and joined extracurricular activities, like cheerleading. She also stated that the financial aid packages she’s offered with will be the main determinant of the school she decides on.

“To be able to weigh two hours of homework for class and do all the extracurriculars sort of became a challenge of balancing my work ethic with time management. I have five younger siblings. I don’t want the idea of paying for college to be a huge burden,” she said.
