Abuja- Mr Eyaba Tagbo, the President, 2ET Media Network, an Abuja-based NGO, on Friday advocated for hands-on training for aspiring Nigerian artists being organised by the establishment.

Tagbo, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said the project was part of efforts to encourage young Nigerians desirous of going into the movie industry.
“Two groups of artists will be selected and camped for one month during which they will learn the rudiments of the film-making, and then shoot a short film.

“They will be required to conceptualise a story, produce and premier it within the period to a live audience,’’ he said.
He said that the project, titled “Unleash Ur Creativity’’, would create an avenue for young Nigerians with interest in the movie industry to unleash their creativity.

“Unleash Ur Creativity is different from other reality projects because it is concerned with transforming the total movie industry and the Nigerian youth in general.”

Tagbo said that the programme was geared towards empowering rising actors who never had the opportunity of playing in the big league.

“The young artistes selected would comprise storytellers, actors, cameramen, editors, musicians and songwriters.
“While they are working, the audience will watch their efforts and get to know how things are done behind the camera.
“This will run all the way through the production process – from scripting stage, through casting, down to choosing the locations, rehearsals, principle of photography to the editing and post-production stage,’’ said the 2ET president.
He said that seasoned film makers would visit the artistes from time to time to give them practical tips on the art and science of film-making.

Tagbo said the project was aimed at using film as a vehicle for peaceful co-existence, cultural re-orientation, tourism development and to create jobs for the youths through entertainment.
According to him, the project would reward hard work, creativity and teamwork. (NAN)
